Stewardship & Sustainability
“Land: They aint makin’ it any more.”—Will Rogers
CEPF is very passionate about helping to preserve this land for equine use, as
well as, the landowners
’ goal to protect the natural habitat and any sensitive species located here.
Camelot Farms voluntarily limits the use of the land to equestrian activities
and to the conservation of open grassland. It is the landowners
’ dream to keep these 1,600 acres open and available to equine enthusiasts. They
preserve this natural grassland by conducting site sensitive grazing practices,
native grass production, and harvesting.
Grassland farming practices and equestrian activities naturally complement one
another. Camelot Farms and the Equestrian Park are natural, logical, and
sensitive uses of this land.
Horsemen were among the original conservationists in this country. We have a
long tradition of respect for the environment. It is after all, the workplace
from which we operate. Continuing the tradition, Camelot Equestrian Park is
taking a proactive approach to conservation and to the design of a sustainable
equine facility.
An enlightened horse facility must be good stewards of the environment.
Stewardship means more than taking care of land and water resources. It also
means being good neighbors to the surrounding communities. Keeping a clean
facility, minimizing dust and insects, and managing waste are crucial to being
good neighbors. For example; composting of manure decreases the volume of waste
and turns the waste into a valuable product that can be used throughout the
farm and park.
Being a good neighbor also means helping our neighbors when they are truly in
need. Camelot, working with the County, as well as other animal rescue
organizations is a large animal disaster rescue site. In the event of disaster
evacuation you may bring your animals to Camelot for safe keeping. If you
’d like to stay close to your animals, we also have space for evacuated people
with self-contained RVs in the campground.
Camelot Equestrian Park Foundation is a Conservation Partner to the Equestrian
Land Conservation Resource (ELCR). ELCR was founded with the belief that the
loss of open land is a great and urgent threat to the future of equestrian
activities throughout this country, and that there is a serious need to take
action to preserve land for equestrian use.
Your support, use of the park, and participation in CEPF events enables us to
meet our conservation goals while building an exceptional and sustainable
equestrian facility.
As well as your support, we welcome your input. If you have ideas, suggestions,
or are as passionate as we are about making Camelot every equestrian
’s dream please get involved. If you would like to attend CEPF planning meetings
